A service was held on Wednesday, 17th February 2016 to dedicate a window in memory of Edgar Evans, (7th March 1876 – 17th February 1912), polar explorer and member of the British Antarctic Expedition. The window was designed and created by Anne Clarkson and was gifted by her to St Mary’s Church; the design in hues of blue, grey, black and white, depicts two figures standing above a crevasse and looking into the black abyss of the bleak inhospitable terrain of the Antarctic.
